The purpose of the new you discussions, is to touch on the sensitive subjects of life after domestic violence and sexual assault.
Sometimes, the topic such as "The Trauma Triangle", can help us see that although we have learned the characteristics of being a victim, rescuer, or perpetrator that there is a way to recognize what role we are playing, and how we can step outside of that role. As difficult as it can be.
It makes a difference when we can say "Ah-ha! I am being a rescuer right now! And to ask why?, why, am I in this role right now? Is it safer for me to be the rescuer right now? What would it look like if I stepped outside of the triangle all together?
This topic was a very good topic for the group discussion, and it came at a very good time in your recovery. I am very glad that we even role played with this. Seeds being planted is what this is about. Seeds that you will take with you to use in your recovery.
Now, you can sit back and watch as others may be in these roles too, and you can identify who is playing what role, and maybe even why, they are in that role.
